Oneida Girls Continue Win Streak Defeating Oakdale 60-20
The Oneida Lady Indians remain undefeated after easily defeating the Oakdale Lady Eagles 60-20 Tuesday evening. The Lady Indians are now 13-0 in district play and 20-4 overall. Oakdale is 4-10 in district play and 4-19 overall.
The Lady Indians took an overwhelming 20-3 lead in the first quarter and cruised from there. Oakdale scored a respectable 11 points in the second quarter, but could manage only six points the entire second half. Oneida’s lead was 36-14 at the half and 55-18 after three quarters.
Delaney Hicks and Savannah Turner lead the Lady Eagles with five points each. Chelsea Newport led Oneida with 15 points. Jayden Thomas added 12 points and Kendyl West scored 11 points for the Lady Indians.
Oneida remains three games ahead of Sunbright in the District 3-1A race. Oakdale remains in sixth place in the district. Oneida faces Sunbright Friday night and can clinch the regular season District 3-1A championship with a victory.
Oneida Indians Ambush Oakdale 89-53
The Oneida Indians continued their march up the ranks of District 3-1A Tuesday evening as they knocked the Oakdale Eagles from second place in the district in an overwhelming 89-53 victory. The Indians jumped out to a 20-5 first quarter lead and outscored the Eagles every quarter of the game. Oneida’s lead was 51-26 at the half and 72-41 after three quarters.
The Indians outscored Oakdale in every facet of the game – 24 2-point baskets to 16, eight 3-point baskets to three, and 17 free throws to 12 for the Eagles. Oakdale’s Rhett Nelson put 20 points on the board in the loss, and Dawson Smith added 13 points. Oneida was led by Nathan Bowling with 22 points and Kolby Morgan added 18 points. Chance Botts and Dalton Young scored 11 points each for the Indians.
Oneida is now 10-3 in district play, one game behind first-place Harriman. Oakdale falls to third place with a 10-4 district record.
Lady Bulldogs Cruise Past Harriman 61-27
The Wartburg Lady Bulldogs once again put on an offensive show by scoring twelve 3-point baskets as they soundly defeated the Harriman Lady Devils 61-27. Madison Williams buried two threes and Callie Johnson added a third in the first quarter as Wartburg took a 13-6 lead. Not to be outdone, Madison Holley added four 3-point baskets in the second quarter as the Lady Bulldogs expanded their lead to 30-17.
Wartburg came out of the locker room and added 22 points in the third quarter, including two threes by Madison Holley and two by Elizabeth Keathley. The Bulldogs coasted to victory in the fourth quarter with Olivia Davis hitting Wartburg’s twelfth 3-pointer of the game.
Madison Holley led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points, including six threes. Callie Johnson added twelve points and Madison Williams scored 10 points. Nine Wartburg players contributed points in the victory. Harriman was led by Olivia Goins with nine points and Jasmine Davis added eight points.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 10-4 in district play, one-half game behind second place Sunbright. Harriman is 3-10 in district play and ranks in eighth place ahead of winless Rockwood.
Harriman Keeps First Place by Downing Wartburg 64-54
In a tough battle that was tied 44-44 at the end of three quarters, Harriman outscored the Wartburg Bulldogs 20-10 in the fourth quarter for a 64-54 victory. With the victory Harriman remains in first place in District 3-1A with an 11-2 district record.
Harriman pulled out to a 14-10 first quarter lead, expanding their lead to 24-19 at the half. Wartburg came back in the third quarter to outscore the Devils 25-20 and tie the game at 44-44. Trezdin Copeland scored seven points in the fourth quarter and Kylann Love added six points to carry Harriman to victory.
The Bulldogs were led by Jake Branstetter with 14 points. Caleb Constant added 11 points and Elijah Langley scored 10 points. In his return from a bout with the flu, Wartburg’s Colby Justes was clearly not fully recovered as he was limited to six points in the game. Harriman was led by Trezdin Copeland with 18 points. Kylann Love added 12 points and Jaylen McCullum scored 11 points for the Blue Devils.
Harriman remains at the top of District 3-1A, one game ahead of second place Oneida. Wartburg remains in fourth place with a 9-5 district record, one-half game ahead of fifth-place Rockwood.
