Bulldogs Place Eight on Region 2-2A Superlatives List
Moore named Offensive Player of the Year
Keathley named Assistant of the Year

The rebuilding efforts of the Wartburg Central High School Bulldogs are paying off as seven players and one assistant coach were selected by Region 2-2A coaches for their superlative performance during the 2018 season.
Previously named MorganCountySports.com’s Player of the Year, Josh Dewayne Moore was named Region 2-2A Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches. As quarterback of the Bulldogs, Moore had 92 completions in 160 attempts for 1443 yards and 19 touchdowns (average of 15.7 yards per completion). He also rushed 109 times for 696 yards and 12 touchdowns (average of 6.4 yards per carry). Moore’s 31 touchdowns were the most ever achieved in a single season by a Wartburg player.
Bulldog punter Colby Justes was named co-Punter of the Year for his performance. Justes averaged 37.2 yards per punt with his longest punt being 45 yards. Justes also had 441 receiving yards with 20 catches and six touchdowns.
Milas Campbell was named Newcomer of the Year by the Region 2-2A coaches.
Caleb McCarty, Saylor Jones, Jake Hamby, and Josh Laymance were named to the Region 2-2A All Region 1st Team. McCarty was the Bulldogs leading receiver with 27 catches for 751 yards and 11 touchdowns. Jones was the Bulldogs leading tackler with 75. He also had 22 receptions for 171 yards and 19 returns for 314 yards. Hamby had 35 tackles, including one sack and two interceptions for the year. Laymance had 36.5 tackles, including five sacks.
In addition to the players selected, Wartburg’s Offensive Coordinator Corey Keathley was named Region 2-2A Assistant of the Year. Keathley passed away mid-season on October 9 after a long hard battle with cancer.
