Morgan County Football Players Selected All-Region 2-1A

Coalfield, Oakdale, and Sunbright each placed several football players on the All-Region 2-1A Football Team for the 2018 season.

Jonathon Woodward selected Linebacker of the Year

Coalfield’s Jonathon Woodward was selected by coaches as the Region 2-1A Linebacker of the Year. Woodward plays both offense and defense for the Yellow Jackets. As a linebacker, he had 115 tackles for the 2018 season, including 11 solo tackles and three tackles for loss. Woodward also recovered four fumbles and scored one defensive touchdown. Offensively, Woodward rushed 84 times for 544 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per carry.

The following players are named to the Region 2-1A First Team:

Coalfield – Dylan Stewart, Micah Jackson, Daniel Scharr, Seth Lowe, Keigan White, Peyton McKinney, Anthony Foster, Isaac Vanwitzenburg, and Austyn Hensley.

Oakdale – Riley Tilson, Brandon Basler, and Eli Solomon.

Sunbright – Tyler Kent, Wes Bohanan, John Wayne Freels, and Andrew Farmer.

Named to the Region 2-1A Second Team are:

Coalfield – Jeffrey Speer, Bryson Ridge, Johnny Carroll, Ashton Jones, and Carl Winegardner.

Oakdale – Tyler Hinds, Hunter Howard, Avrin Collins, Trevor Summers, Wayne Wilder, and Garrett Miller.

Sunbright – Riley Brown, Evan England, Zach Durham, and Ethan Hammock.

Selections for the Region 2-1A All-Academic Team include:

Coalfield – Johnny Carroll, Ashton Jones, Jeffrey Speer, Keigan White, and Luke Adkisson.

Oakdale – Eli Solomon, Garrett Miller, Tyler Hinds, Caleb Willis, and Wayne Wilder.

Sunbright – Riley Brown and Zach Durham.
