The accolades keep rolling in for former Coalfield quarterback Parker McKinney, who is now the starting quarterback for the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels. This past Saturday, McKinney led the Colonels to a 39-31 double-overtime victory over Jacksonville State.

McKinney turned in his best performance of the season, throwing for 290 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 98 yards and a score. His four passing touchdowns tied a career high and his 29 completions gave him 229 on the season, setting a single-season program record. For his performance, McKinney was named the ASUN Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

EKU Coach Walt Wells said of Mckinney, “What can you say about Parker McKinney, I mean, what a great quarterback. I don’t know if there is one better at this level.”
