Lady Bulldog Volleyballers Fall to Bledsoe County 3-0

Close, but not quite – the Wartburg Central Lady Bulldog volleyball team lost a close, heartbreaking match to Bledsoe County at home Tuesday evening 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19).

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong in the first set, fighting the Lady Warriors to a 7-7 tie with Alivia Laymance serving up one ace along the way. Slowly, Bledsoe pulled ahead as the Lady Bulldogs could hold serve for only three points. Bledsoe took the first set 25-18.

Once again, Wartburg started strong in the second set, taking an 8-6 lead with Savannah Tinch serving up two points along the way. Bledsoe then took the lead 10-8 and never looked back, fighting off every attempt by the Lady Bulldogs and holding on to win the set 25-17.

Wartburg jumped out in front 8-3 in the third set as Morgan Beard served five consecutive points. The lady Bulldogs took a 10-7 lead when Savannah Tinch served an ace. The Lady Warriors immediately responded by serving ten points in a row to take an 18-10 lead. Wartburg closed the gap to six points but could come no closer, losing the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
