Lady Bulldogs Romp Over Harriman 3-0 in Volleyball

For the second outing in a row, the Wartburg Central Lady Bulldog volleyball team soundly defeated a District 3A opponent, bringing their district record to 2-1 and overall record to 2-2. Wartburg went on the road to defeat Harriman 3-0, extending their win streak to six sets in a row.

Harriman took a 1-0 lead in the first set before the Lady Bulldogs came charging back, never to trail again in the set. Morgan Beard served up six points to give Wartburg an 11-3 lead. The Lady Bulldogs continued to overpower Harriman and took the set 25-11.

The Lady Bulldogs quickly moved out to a 7-1 lead in the second set behind the serving of Madilyn Armes. The teams then fought point-for-point with Wartburg holding on to win the set 25-19. Armes scored one ace against the Lady Blue Devils and Morgan Beard served two aces.

Wartburg’s defense took over in the third set, allowing Harriman to hold serve for only two points. Offensively, Alivia Laymance and Savannah Tinch each served four consecutive points for the Lady Bulldogs. Laymance served one ace and Tinch was credited with two aces. Wartburg won the set 25-12 and the match 3-0.

Wartburg faces off with Bledsoe County in a home match Tuesday evening at 6 pm.
