Hannah Shannon Signs with Alice Lloyd College – May 20, 2019

Sunbright third baseman Hannah Shannon signed a Letter of Intent today to play softball for Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Kentucky. Alice Lloyd College is a small, private, liberal arts college located in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky that stresses academic excellence. U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 Edition of Best Colleges ranked Alice Lloyd College among the top colleges in the nation! Nationally, among all colleges and universities, Alice Lloyd College was ranked #2 on the list of Best Value Schools among Southern Regional Colleges. Alice Lloyd was also ranked #5 among all college and universities for graduating students with the least amount of debt.

Alice Lloyd College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The 2019 Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles set a school record with 12 wins and hosted the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament. Alice Lloyd Assistant Softball Coach Mason Schroeder came to Sunbright to participate in the signing ceremony. When asked about what Hannah’s signing meant to the Alice Lloyd team, Schroeder replied “We’re getting a big pick-up here. We heard the numbers she put up this past year and, actually all of her four years in high school, we know we’re getting a power hitter and a really good defensive player. I think she will fit right in with our program.”

Hannah said she has “dreamed of this ever since she was a little girl playing T-ball. I’m very excited – my hard work is playing off.” As much as she loves softball, Hannah indicated “I’m going to focus on my education.” Hannah plans to major in elementary education and plans a teaching career. Perhaps, there just might be a coaching job in her future as well!
