Pure Hustle by Harriman’s Bertram!
By Terry Futrell
Sometimes we are afforded an opportunity to see a real difference-maker in action. In the Harriman Lady Devil’s victory over Wartburg Tuesday evening, Harriman rightfielder Ananda Bertram showed us how pure hustle and personal effort in support of the team can make a real difference. One example of Ananda’s effort is shown in the sequence of photos below. When Wartburg hit the ball to shallow right field, Ananda put forth extraordinary effort to make the catch, even though it meant putting her own personal safety at risk. As can be seen from the photos, Ananda went hard to the ground after making the catch, still securely holding the ball in her glove. Ananda showed us the kind of personal effort and determination that assures success not only in athletics, but in every aspect of life.
