Armes and Fountain Taking Basketball to Next Level

Former Wartburg Central High School basketball players Mackenzie Armes and Dillon Fountain are taking their love for the game to the next level at Roane State Community College. Both played in their respective team’s last home game of the season against Walters State on February 23 to the delight of many Morgan County fans who were present.
As a freshman, Mackenzie has played in 25 games for the Roane State Lady Raiders this season, starting in 10 of those games and averaging 14 minutes per game playing time. She is successful shooting 52 percent of her field goals and 70% of her free throws. Mackenzie is averaging four points per game, or 11 points per 40 minutes of playing time. She averages three rebounds per game, and has 10 steals and four blocks for the season.
Against Walters State, Mackenzie scored two points, shooting two-of-two from the free throw line. In 12 minutes of playing time, Mackenzie had one rebound, one assist, and one steal. Mackenzie is listed as a 5’8” guard for the Lady Raiders, but spent much of her game time playing in the paint against much taller players from Walters State. The Lady Raiders lost to Walters State 52-39.
Dillon, also a freshman, has played in 26 games for the Roane State Raiders, and started in 10 games, averaging just over 2 minutes playing time per game. Dillon shot 45 percent of his field goals, and hit 41% (33 of 80) from 3-point range. Dillon averaged 5 points per game and an impressive 86 points per 40 minutes of playing time. Dillon averages three rebounds per game, and has nine steals and eight blocks for the season.
Dillon played 16 minutes against Walters State and scored four points – one 3-point shot and one free throw. He was credited with one assist, one steal, and one block in the contest. After trailing by 12 points at the half, Roane State fought back and closed the gap to eight points, losing 93-85.
