Sunbright 55, Monterey 48
The Sunbright Lady Tigers extended their overall record to 8-3 by defeating the winless Monterey Lady Wildcats 55-48 in a non-district matchup at Monterey. Sunbright was led by Makenna Brown with 19 points and Ashton Brown with 17 points. Olivia Northrup was close behind with 13 points. Monterey was led by Anna Hudson, who was the game high scorer with 22 points. The Lady Tigers trailed by two at the end of one, but took a 34-30 lead into halftime. Sunbright built its lead each of the last two quarters to win by seven.
Boys
Sunbright 63, Monterey 72
The Sunbright Tigers fell to 1-10 overall as they were defeated by the Monterey Wildcats 72-63 in a non-district matchup at Monterey. The Tigers showed significant progress since they were defeated by Monterey 73-48 on November 20. But, an inordinate number of personal fouls continue to plague the Tigers. The Tigers committed 20 personal fouls compared to 12 for Monterey. As a result, Monterey was able to outscore the Tigers at the free throw line 17-6. The Tigers outscored Monterey from the field 57-53. Sunbright was led by Hunter Bunch with 22 points. Wes Bohanan had 11 points, and Josh Langley and John Freels each scored nine points. Monterey was led by Paxton Payne with 24 points. Monterey moves to an overall 7-2 record.
