Coalfield and Wartburg earn Playoff Berths

The Coalfield Yellow Jackets and Wartburg Bulldogs football teams have earned spots in the 2018 TSSAA high school playoffs in their respective classifications and regions.

Coalfield completed the regular season of play with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-1 record in Class 1A Region 2. The Jackets are the second seed in Region 2 behind Greenback, the top-ranked team in the State. Coalfield will face the Jellico Blue Devils at home on Friday, November 2, at 7:00 PM.

The Wartburg Bulldogs finished the season with an overall 4-6 record and a 1-3 record in Class 2A Region 2. The Bulldogs experienced their best season since 2012 and earned a playoff berth for the first time since 2011. The Bulldogs are the fourth seed in their region and will travel to South Greene next Friday, November 2, to take on the Rebels at 7:00 PM.
