Coalfield Defeats Midway

Coalfield celebrated homecoming in a big way by handing undefeated Midway their first loss of the season 22-13. Both teams were ranked No. 8 in the State in Class 1A by the Associated Press coming into the contest. After losing their starting quarterback to injury a week ago, there was concern about the Jackets ability to keep up with the potent offense of the Greenwave. But, Defensive Coordinator Keith Henry’s defense succeeded in throttling Midway’s passing attack and the Jackets held their own offensively, extending their Class A Region 2 record to 4-0. Midway’s Region 2 record is now 1-1. The Jackets sit at the top of Region 2 by virtue of the number of region games played and won, but face No. 1 ranked Greenback next Friday.
