Midway Ties Coalfield in AP Poll

The Coalfield Yellow Jackets remained at No. 8 in the Associated Press Tennessee Class 1A high school football poll released Monday after losing to Class 2A Marion County in Week 6 by a score of 26-16. Midway, Coalfield’s opponent this coming Friday night, entered the poll for the first time this season, tied with the Yellow Jackets at No. 8. Midway defeated Tellico Plains 39-8 this past Friday. The stage is set for a slobber-knocker as the two No. 8 teams collide on Rochelle Field at 7:30 PM.

Meanwhile, Region 2 rival Greenback continues to be ranked No. 1, receiving 15 of 16 first place votes in the weekly poll. Greenback defeated Grace Christian Academy 48-14 last Thursday.

In Class 2A, the Oneida Indians dropped three spots to No. 10 in the poll after losing to Class 3A York Institute 21-10.
