Sunbright Tigers Fall To Harriman

Sunbright quickly moved downfield and jumped out to an early 6-0 lead over the visiting Blue Devils when quarterback John Wayne Freels connected with Ethan Hammock on a 7-yard touchdown pass. The Blue Devils countered with a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown by Giovanni Cromwell, followed by a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bradly Frost to Trezdin Copeland. The Blue Devils held a slim 13-6 lead over the Tigers at halftime.

The talented Blue Devil team took control in the second half, racking up 36 unanswered points on the Tigers to win by a 49-6 margin.

Sunbright faces Wartburg at home next Friday while Harriman travels to Rockwood. Both are non-conference games that do not affect the playoff picture for either team.

Other Area Games of Interest

The Oliver Springs Bobcats sent a shockwave throughout Region 2 by giving defending state champ Greenback all they could handle. The Bobcats led by 18-10 at the half, but Greenback fought its way back to win by 28-18. The Bobcats clearly established themselves as a strong competitor for second place in the Region 2 playoff picture.

Midway had an open date, but the undefeated Greenwave are definitely in the mix for the playoffs. Midway still has challenging games with Coalfield, Harriman, Greenback, and Oliver Springs on their schedule.
